Standards and references are different objects

The WHO Child Growth Standards (2006) are prescriptive. They were built from the Multicentre Growth Reference Study, which followed healthy, breastfed children in six countries — India among them — raised in conditions that did not constrain growth. They describe how children grow when nothing is holding them back, which is why the same curves are used worldwide rather than one set per country.

The WHO Growth Reference (2007) for 5–19 years is a different object again: a reconstruction of an older American reference, and not a standard in the 2006 sense. This site does not use it.

The IAP 2015 revised charts are descriptive: percentiles of measured contemporary Indian children aged 5–18, published by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics Growth Chart Committee in Indian Pediatrics in January 2015. The IAP recommends them for Indian children in this age band, and this site follows that recommendation.

Mixing the three into one continuous curve produces a line that exists in no published reference. This site never does it, and every page that plots a percentile names the instrument and its version year directly under the drawing.

How these pages are reviewed — and what review they have not had

Every percentile is transcribed from the publisher's own table and re-checked against it; the month of the last check is printed on every figure on this site, including the ones on this page. Where a source does not publish a value, the cell is empty. Nothing is interpolated, smoothed or filled in from a secondary aggregator.

No clinician has reviewed these pages. This site is built and maintained by Amit Sharma, who is a marketer, not a doctor — which is exactly why it reproduces published reference tables and cites them rather than interpreting anyone's measurements. Nothing here is marked up as medically reviewed content, because it has not been medically reviewed, and claiming otherwise would be the most damaging thing a page about children's growth could do.

The judgement this site does exercise is editorial: which instrument belongs to which age band, which figures are citable, and which are left out. Those decisions are written down in full on the தரவு & முறை page.

Corrections

If a figure here disagrees with the primary source, the primary source wins and the page gets fixed. Send the URL.
